990 PRO 1 TB or 2 TB: capacity, endurance and warranty limits
The two checked Samsung UK capacity pages have the same sequential ceilings but different stated write-endurance thresholds. Choose capacity without inventing a speed or lifetime advantage.

The 2 TB model changes capacity and the stated endurance threshold
Samsung’s checked UK pages list the same sequential ceilings for the bare 1 TB and 2 TB 990 PRO models: up to 7450 MB/s read and 6900 MB/s write. The clear documented differences in this comparison are nominal capacity and the published TBW threshold: 600 TBW for 1 TB and 1200 TBW for 2 TB. Do not claim that the 2 TB drive is twice as fast or will last twice as long.
Choose capacity from the amount of data you need to retain, working space for applications and a separate backup plan. Endurance is another constraint, especially for write-heavy use, but it does not make additional capacity free or establish the best current UK value. No authorised live price or stock feed has been verified for this page.

Compare the exact bare-module product codes
The 1 TB page identifies MZ-V9P1T0BW and the 2 TB page MZ-V9P2T0BW. Both specify M.2 2280, PCIe Gen4 x4 and NVMe 2.0, with published dimensions of 80 × 22 × 2.3 mm. These rows are for the identified product pages; do not transfer them to a heatsink version or a different capacity based on the family name alone.
The pages qualify performance by system hardware and configuration. Matching up-to sequential labels do not prove identical performance in every workload or cache state. If the purchase depends on sustained write behaviour or another specialised task, obtain a comparable capacity-specific test rather than deriving it from the headline figures.

Use TBW as a condition, not a predicted failure date
TBW means terabytes written in the stated endurance framework. It is not the amount of files you can store at one moment, and it is not the same as how many terabytes you read. Repeated writes can accumulate even when used storage capacity remains nearly constant. Your actual recorded host writes are more useful than guessing from the amount of data currently visible in folders.
For scale only, 600 TB divided by a hypothetical 0.1 TB written per day is 6000 days; 1200 TB at the same hypothetical rate is 12000 days. Those divisions are not promised service lives and do not extend a limited warranty past its time condition. The example excludes changes in workload and every other failure mechanism.

Keep format, identity and backups visible
The labelled 990 EVO Plus photograph is an actual 2 TB MZ-V9S2T0 module. Its complete family name differs from 990 PRO: the shared 990 wording and capacity do not identify MZ-V9P1T0BW or MZ-V9P2T0BW. Use the exact bare-module codes in the table when comparing these two PRO capacities; no performance or warranty term is inferred from the EVO Plus appearance.
The separate Intel SSD 330 circuit board exposes NAND packages, but it does not show Samsung 990 PRO construction, current recorded host writes or remaining life. The actual external hard disk illustrates a separate backup device: TBW is not a substitute for an independent, verified copy. Confirm the host's protocol, supported length, mounting and component clearance before treating either capacity as a replacement. A larger capacity does not remove those conditions, and no TBW figure or product warranty guarantees recovery of lost files.

Decide from the workload and complete quotation
If the 1 TB model provides sufficient usable space and its documented conditions meet the workload, the larger TBW number alone does not demonstrate a necessary upgrade. If the data and working-space plan exceeds that capacity, the 2 TB option can address a real requirement. Compare complete UK quotations only after identifying the exact physical version and included items.
Keep the detailed regional warranty, purchase evidence and seller return terms with the product identity. The checked pages describe a limited five-year and TBW framework; do not convert that into a blanket guarantee or a longer predicted lifespan. The useful conclusion is capacity-specific: the two bare models share the listed sequential ceilings, while nominal space and the documented endurance threshold differ.
